CLEVELAND, Ohio - Head coach Josh Moore of the Cleveland State University wrestling team announced that three northeast Ohio student-athletes are staying home as they have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI's) to continue their careers with the Vikings.

Jack Gorman (Aurora High School), Logan Heil (Brunswick High School) and Gus Sutton (Austintown Fitch High School) all signed NLI's earlier this month to commit to CSU for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Gorman is a two-time state placer entering his senior season at Aurora. He won 42 matches as a freshman before placing at the Ohio Division I state tournament at 106 pounds. After winning 40 more matches as a sophomore, claiming All-Suburban League First Team honors and qualifying for states again, Gorman advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament as a junior at 132 pounds before placing sixth at the state. He owns 113 high school wins.

"Jack is great on his feet," Aurora head coach Johnny Papesh said. "He is probably the best athlete we have in our room. I think Jack Gorman is ready to have a beast [senior] season."

Heil picked up 32 wins and qualified for the Ohio Division I state tournament as a freshman at 113 pounds. He moved up a weight class to 120 as a sophomore and proceeded to post a 5-1 record at the state tournament to place third, with his only loss coming to the state champion. Heil won multiple matches at the state tournament at 120 to again place as a junior after he had claimed the North Canton Hoover district title with three bonus-point wins and the Wadsworth sectional title with four pins. He owns 109 high school wins.

Heil has two brothers that have competed as Division I wrestlers—Dean, a two-time national champion at Oklahoma State, and Josh, a redshirt sophomore at Campbell who won the Southern Conference title as a freshman.

"Logan is a very dedicated wrestler," Brunswick head coach Mike Koshar said. "There is not a day that goes by that Logan doesn't do something—lift, run, wrestle, etc.—to increase his chance of being a state champion. Logan is physically and mentally tough and not many can keep up with his pace or tenacity. Logan is the kid you want in your wrestling foxhole. Logan is looking forward to working with the CSU staff and wrestlers."

Sutton is also a two-time state placer at the Ohio Division I state tournament. He won 44 matches as a sophomore and knocked off the top-ranked wrestler at 120 pounds in his first-ever state tournament bout. He would advance to the semifinals before placing sixth. Sutton won both the Massillon Perry sectional and the North Canton Hoover district titles in his junior season. He finished last year with a 46-3 mark and placed at states for the second straight season. Sutton owns 122 wins in his high school career to date. He also placed at the 2017 Cadet Freestyle National Tournament in Fargo, N.D.

"Gus is an extremely focused and driven wrestler," Austintown Fitch head coach John Burd said. "He is quick and explosive on his feet. He is working extremely hard to achieve his number one goal this season in Columbus. Austintown is proud to see Gus heading to Cleveland State next year. Coach Moore has a clear vision and Gus is eager to be a part of that!"
