CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Evan Cheek of the Cleveland State University wrestling team was named Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week Monday.

Cheek went 2-0 at 141 pounds this past week in a pair of road EWL duals at Bloomsburg and Lock Haven.

Cheek began his week with a win over BU's Shawn Orem. Cheek had opened up a 12-2 lead after one period and secured the win by fall within 30 seconds of the beginning of the second period.

Cheek then faced LHU's Kyle Shoop, who sits among the top 25 in the most recent NCAA Coaches' rankings. Cheek opened up a two-point lead after one period and extended it from there, finishing with an 11-7 win over his conference foe.

Since the turn of the calendar year, Cheek is 13-3. He owns nine bonus-point wins in that span, including four via pin. Cheek has won each of his past four EWL bouts.
