NCAA Championships Run Ends for Corba

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Redshirt junior Nick Corba of the Cleveland State University wrestling team saw his NCAA Championships run come to an end Friday afternoon inside the Scottrade Center.

Corba lost his third-round consolation match to Nathan Jackson of Indiana. Jackson is a reigning All-American who finished fifth in last year's event and is competing at NCAA's for the third time.

Corba looked to be an aggressor early but was unable to see some of his offensive attempts through to fruition. Jackson was then able to secure a first-period fall for the victory.

Despite competing at the national tournament for the first time, Corba was victorious twice in must-win matches in Thursday's evening session. With his two victories Thursday, Corba became the first Viking to post two bonus-point wins at a NCAA Championship since 1995. Corba's efforts made this the third consecutive season that a Viking has won at least one match at the NCAA Championships.

Corba finished with a career-high 25 wins this season, including 15 bonus-point victories.

Cleveland State will return each of its top four student-athletes in terms of wins next season, as only three individuals that competed this season have exhausted their eligibility.
