CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State wrestling team will send 10 wrestlers to compete in the Edinboro Open on Saturday. The event begins at 9:00 am.

Nick DeRosa, John Martin, Jayce Carr, Nick Montgomery, John Vaughn, Chas Busz, Xavier Dye, Sam Wheeler, Jacob Worthington and Riley Shaw will all compete for the Vikings.

This will be the final open event of the season for the Vikings, who have posted a 7-5 overall record this year, including a 3-2 mark in the EWL.

There will be no team scores kept at the event, which features double elimination with wrestling to six places.

CSU's latest win was a thrilling 18-15 win at Lock Haven on Saturday when 174-pounder Gabe Stark clinched the victory with an 8-6 sudden victory in the final match of the day. Stark trailed by a point after the first and second periods, but rallied with two points in the final period to send the match to overtime tied at 6-6.

In the extra session, Stark scored a takedown for the win.

Dye, Wheeler and Shaw gave the Vikings a quick 12-0 lead by winning the first three matches, including a major decision from Dye and a technical fall from Shaw. Mike Carlone extended CSU's lead to 15-6 with a win at 141 pounds, but Lock Haven won the next three bouts to set up a winner take all match at 174 pounds.

Shaw continues to lead the Vikings and is ranked 15th in the nation at heavyweight. A two-time national qualifier, Shaw is 19-4 this year, including 10-1 in duals and 4-1 in EWL matches and leads the team with three technical falls.

Wheeler has won a team-high 20 matches, going 20-6 overall and 4-1 in EWL contests.

Following the Edinboro Open, the Vikings return to action at Gardner-Webb on Saturday (Feb. 13).

CSU closes its regular season by hosting Michigan State on Friday (Feb. 19) and traveling to Bloomsburg on Sunday (Feb. 21), leading up to the EWL Championship on March 5 at Lock Haven.
