Vikings Host Rider for Final Home Meet of Regular Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State wrestling team will be in action back at home on Saturday (Feb. 15) as the Vikings will host Rider on senior day in their final EWL match of the regular season at Woodling Gymnasium.  Wrestling will begin at 1:00 p.m.

The Vikings had a pair of  matches last week against Eastern Michigan (Wed. Feb. 5) and Clarion (Sun. Feb. 9).  CSU dropped both matches, but had wins from 149- pounder Nick Montgomery, 174- pounder Nick Corba, 184-pounder Xavier Dye, and 165 pounder Matt Donohoe, along with 285- pounder Riley Shaw went 2-0 on the week.

Montgomery earned his eighth decision of the year against Eastern Michigan's Mike LeHolm, 7-6.  Dye posted his fifth decision of the year, defeating Clarion wrestler, Dustin Conti 11-6.  Donohoe against EMU pinned Dean Vettese (4:25), earning his first pin of the year.  Donohoe's second win came by decision over Clarion's Michael Pavasko, 11-6.  His decision win was his eighth of the season.  Corba pinned (3:00) Clarion's Ryan Darch.  Shaw picked up his fourth major decision of the year against Clarion's Evan Daley, 13-5.  Against the Eagles, he won by decision over Cole Dillman.      

With those victories Montgomery is 14-9 with eight decisions, two major decisions, one tech fall, and three pins.  Donohoe has 12 wins on the year with eight decisions, two major decisions, one tech fall, and one pin. Corba's winning pin gives him 14 victories on the season.  He has tallied eight decisions, two major decisions, two pins, and two forfeit wins.  Dye tallied his ninth win of the season giving him five decisions, two major decisions, one tech fall, and one win by forfeit.  Shaw's two wins gives him 17 wins on the year.  He has eight decisions, two wins by forfeit, four major decisions, and three tech falls.  

Following this week's final home dual match, CSU will be away from home to finish out the regular season as the wrestling team will head to Athens, Ohio on Sunday (Feb. 23) to wrestle Gardner-Webb at 12:00 p.m. and will then take on the Bobcats of Ohio University at 3:00 p.m.
