Fairfax, Va.- Four CSU wrestlers were able to bring home two wins on the night as the Cleveland State Vikings split contests at the Patriot Classic Friday on the road, falling first to the Brown Bears before then taking down the host George Mason Patriots.

The Vikings fell in the first match of the night in a tough contest, 29-12 vs. the Brown Bears. Despite Ben Willeford(125 lb.) opening up the competition with a win, CSU was only able to pick up three more victories against the Bears and fell short.

Willeford picked up a 3-2 decision win to start the night for CSU. The junior was joined in the win column for the Vikings by Corey Carlo (165) with a 13-7 decision win, Xavier Dye (174) with a 8-6 decision, and Riley Shaw(285) with a 9-3 decision.

Bouncing back, CSU was able to take down the Patriots 20-15.

The Vikings came out strong against George Mason, with Willeford and Michael Carlone(133) taking the first two match-ups to give CSU a 7-0 lead. Willeford took a major decision win (12-4), while Carlone won by decision (8-3).

Matt Donohoe (157), Corey Carlo (165), Xavier Dye (174), and Riley Shaw(285) were also able to pick up victories for CSU. Dye picked up a 15-6 major decision victory, with the other three all being by decision.

For the Classic, Willeford, Carlo, Dye, and Shaw were all able to go a perfect 2-0.

The perfect nights brought Willeford and Shaw to a team leading 16 and 14 wins respectively, with Carlo totaling 10 wins and Dye moving up to seven on the year.

CSU will be back on the mat next Friday for the teams' first home contest of the year. CSU will take on Lock Haven in Woodling Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m.
