Vikings Fall to 13th Ranked Pittsburgh on the Road

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Despite winning two of the first three matchups on the night, the Cleveland State Vikings fell on the road Thursday in a tough league opener against the 13th ranked Pittsburgh Panthers, 38-6.

The loss moves the CSU to 1-2 on the year and 0-1 in Eastern Wrestling League action.

The Vikings were able to start the night strong with those two wins, as both Ben Willeford (125 lb.) and Nick Flannery (141 lb.) were able to pick up victories. Willeford was able to take an 8-5 decision victory to improve to 8-7 on the year and 2-1 in dual meets. Flannery also picked up a decision victory by a 6-1 total, improving to 4-4 on the year and 3-0 in dual meets.

Despite the 6-4 lead CSU was unable to hold on against the nation's 13th ranked team as the Panthers took the final 34 points of the night.

CSU is now off from competition until the Southern Scuffle January 1st and 2nd in Chattanooga, Tenn.
