CLEVELAND-The Cleveland State Vikings' wrestling team ended its regular season Sunday afternoon, taking on Ohio, Northern Illinois, and Gardner-Webb in a quad dual at Woodling Gymnasium. After falling in their first two matches of the day to Oho (37-6), and Northern Illinois (26-11), the Vikings ended the day on a high note defeating Gardner-Webb 18-15.

The Vikings win over the Runnin' Bulldogs was a nail-biter, as it came down to the final match of the day at 165 pounds to determine the winner.

Corbin Boone picked up the first CSU win in the match at 197 pounds vs. Gardner-Webb, winning a 6-2 decision. He was followed by Riley Shaw for the Vikings at heavyweight, who won a thrilling 4-3 match-up in five overtimes.

Following a loss at 125 pounds, CSU was able to pick up two consecutive wins to take the lead. Mike Carlone took the first of those two wins at 133 pounds with a 5-2 decision win. He was followed by huge pin for Nick Flannery at 141 pounds at the 3:51 mark to give the home team a 15-9 lead.

Gardner-Webb was able to take the next two weight classes to force a tie heading into the last class, 165 pounds. CSU 165-pounder Corey Carlo battled all match long in this final class. The battle came right down to the wire before Carlo was able to pull off a 10-8 decision win, bringing home the 18-15 victory for the Vikings.

On the day in total, six Vikings were able to come away with at least one win in the quad meet. Nick Flannery led the way going a perfect 3-0. He was followed by Corey Carlo and Riley Shaw with two wins each, as they each brought home victories vs. Northern Illinois and Gardner-Webb. 

The CSU wrestlers that picked up one win were Ben Willeford(125), Mike Carlone (133), and Corbin Boone (197).

The Vikings are now off from competition until March 9th when they head to Edinboro, Pa. for the Eastern Wrestling League Championships beginning at 10:00 a.m.
