CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - In one of the most highly competitive meets of the national wrestling season, the Cleveland State Vikings had multiple wrestlers pick up victories at the 2013 Southern Scuffle hosted at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga's McKenzie Arena.

The 2013 Scuffle hosts 20 teams from around the nation, including the two-time defending National Champion Penn State Nittany Lions, and four of the top five finishers at the 2012 NCAA tournament.

Junior Ben Willefordled the way for the Vikings at 125 pounds in the completive meet, as he was the lone CSU wrestler advancing to today's final competition. Willeford, after going 3-1 on day one of the Scuffle, fell in his first match today to end his run. In a hard fought match-up, Willeford fell in a 3-2 decision to Old Dominion's Rob Deutsch.

On Tuesday Willeford started the day with a 10-2 major decision victory, the junior fell in his second match before rallying back. He then earned consecutive decision victories (7-1 and 3-2) to move into today's final competition.

Mike Carlone (133), Nick Flannery (141) Matt Donohoe (157), Corey Carlo (165), Xavier Dye (174), and Corbin Boone(184) also all picked up victories on Tuesday at the highly competitive scuffle.

The Vikings will continue the teams' road swing next week as the group heads down to Fairfax, Va. to take on both George Mason and Brown in a tri-meet on January 11th at a time to be determined. Cleveland State will be back home on January 18th to take on Lock Haven at 6:00 p.m. in the Woodling Gymnasium on the CSU campus.
