EDINBORO, Pa. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team swept both of its matches over the weekend to begin the fall campaign 2-0. Friday, the Vikings defeated Edinboro 7-2, followed by a 7-0 shutout of St. Joseph's (Ind.) the following day.

Against Edinboro, CSU swept the doubles point and won 4 of the 6 singles matches. The top of the Vikings' lineup was dominating as sophomore Eric Winn (Austin, Texas/Westlake), freshman Jay Tee (Davenport, La.), and sophomore Paul Haley (San Antonio, Texas/Judson) dropped only eight games total between the three of them during singles play. Winn and Haley also won 8-1 in doubles. Sophomore Jordan Reynolds (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) also had a solid straight-sets win at the No. 5 spot.

Saturday, CSU squared off against St. John's (Ind.) in a match also played at Edinboro. After sweeping the doubles action, the Vikings proceeded to take all six singles matches. Sophomore Shawn Whitehouse (Austin, Texas/Westlake) came back after a sub-par outing in the Edinboro match to win 6-0,6-1. Winn battled against a tough opponent and some food poisoning to win his match at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-4. After two matches, Winn, Tee, Haley, and Reynolds are all undefeated in both singles and doubles.

Cleveland State is in action again next Saturday when the Vikings take on Valparaiso at 10:00 a.m. EST and UW-Green Bay at 4:00 p.m. in a double-header at Valparaiso.
