ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened Horizon League play with a 7-0 victory over Youngstown State on Friday night at River Oaks Racquet Club.
The win snapped a three-match losing streak for the Vikings and improved CSU to 10-5 overall and 1-0 in league play.
"It is always good to start league play with a win like this, but we know that things are just going to get tougher and tougher each time we take the court," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We have to continue to go out and play our style of tennis and stay mentally strong."
CSU swept all three doubles matches, including an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles by Rob Fox and John Haley.
The Vikings also won five of the six singles contests in two sets.
CSU is back in action on Saturday afternoon when the Vikings host Green Bay at 2:00 p.m.
