Feb. 11, 2006

Iowa City, IA- The Cleveland State men's tennis team lost a disappointing 4-3 match to UW-Green Bay Saturday morning, falling to 0-5 for the spring.

The Vikings came out focused, sweeping the doubles point and securing its two singles wins to put them up 3-0. Jay Tee and Olivier Dhaine downed Mat Weiss and Tim Prudlow 8-5 at No. 1 doubles while the No. 2 unit of Rob West and Dan Singer defeated Mark Goldin and Eric Plaushines 8-7 (8-6). No. 3 Brad Groleski and Steven Wipprecht easily defeated Eric Hines and Matt Keesey 8-4.

"We worked really well together in doubles and were able to pull out the doubles point which was great," said coach Brian Etzkin. "We played our best doubles of the season."

In singles action No. 2 Olivier Dhaine and No. 5 Brad Groleski both downed their opponents 6-2, 7-5. Junior Dhaine improved to 4-1 for the year while Groleski's win marked his first since returning to action after being sidelined with a broken wrist for over a year.

"It's probably inexperience but we've got to get tougher and win matches," said Etzkin. "The loss certainly wasn't due to a lack of effort. We just need one win to get us back on track and I think several will follow."

Cleveland State will be back in action Feb. 17 at IPFW.
