Cleveland State Posts 6-1 Victory At Youngstown State

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The men's tennis team opened its spring schedule with a 6-1 win at Youngstown State Friday afternoon at the Boardman Tennis Center. With the victory, the Vikings improved to 3-4 on the year and picked up their first Horizon League win since being reinstated last season.

In doubles action, freshman Jay Tee (Davenport, Iowa/Davenport Central) and sophomore Jordan Reynolds (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) combined on an 8-2 win at No. 2. CSU earned the doubles point when YSU defaulted at No. 3.

The Vikings dominated singles play, claiming five points on four straight-sets wins and a default at No. 6. Sophomore No. 1 Eric Winn (Austin, Texas/Westlake) posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory, while Tee won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Sophomore Shawn Whitehouse (Austin, Texas) and Reynolds also earned wins at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1) and No. 5 (6-0, 6-2), respectively.

Cleveland State is in action again when the Vikings travel to Radford to face the Highlanders on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
