This will be Cleveland State's ninth appearance in the NCAA Championship, and first since 2021. All nine of Cleveland State's NCAA Tournament appearances have come under current head coach Brian Etzkin (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2024).

The Vikings enter the First Round of the NCAA Championship with a 21-6 overall record, including a 13-match win streak. During the regular season, the Vikings posted a perfect 8-0 mark against Horizon League opponents to claim the regular season title in the North Division, and then picked up a pair of wins over Tennessee State and Belmont last weekend to capture the 2024 #HLTennis Tournament title.

The 2024 championship marked the ninth for Cleveland State, which is tied for the most among league teams.

This weekend's matchup between Cleveland State and Ohio State will be the 14th under head coach Brian Etzkin, and the fourth meeting between the two teams in NCAA Tournament play (2008, 2013, 2019).

Ohio State enters NCAA Tournament play with a 30-1 overall record, most recently capturing the Big Ten Tournament title - their 17th in program history. The Buckeyes will be playing as the No. 1 overall seed in this year's tournament, and stand at 13-0 when playing at home this season.

The other first round matchup in Columbus will be Vanderbilt vs. Oklahoma State, with the two winners facing each other in a Second Round contest on Saturday, May 4.
