WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team will play for its ninth Horizon League Tournament title tomorrow, after picking up a 4-3 victory over Tennessee State in Saturday's semifinal contest. The Vikings, who will be playing in their 12th #HLTennis Championship Match, have now won 12 straight matches and stand at 20-6 overall this season.
After dropping the doubles point and falling behind 2-0 early in singles, Lincoln Battle put Cleveland State's first point on the board, earning a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top of the lineup.
Kade Mindry was then able to even the match at 2-2 with a win at No. 3 singles, as he posted a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set win.
Although Tennessee State responded with a win at the No. 6 spot, Cleveland State's Carl Gedlitschka knotted the score once again, as a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 come-from-behind win at No. 4 singles put the score at 3-3 with just the No. 5 singles match left on court.
Despite dropping the first set, Nico Jamison was able to battle back for a 7-6 win in the second frame, before closing out the match with a 6-4 win in the third set.
