Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Earns No. 1 Seed In The North For 2024 #HLTennis Tournament

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Following a perfect 8-0 regular season Horizon League slate, the Cleveland State men's tennis team has clinched the No. 1 seed in the North Division for the upcoming #HLTennis Tournament.

For the second straight year the Vikings will be playing as the No. 1 seed in the North after capturing the North Division Regular Season title with their 8-0 #HLTennis record. 

This year's Horizon League Tournament will take place Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28, and will be hosted at the Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Ind.

The top-seeded Vikings will open tournament play with a semifinal contest on Saturday, April 27, playing the winner of the South No. 2 Tennessee State/North No. 3 Youngstown State first round match on Friday, April 26. 

The winners of Saturday's semifinal contests will advance to the championship match on Sunday, April 28. 

Saturday's appearance in the #HLTennis Tournament will mark the 18th straight trip to the semifinals for the Vikings and their 19th semifinal appearance in program history. Under head coach Brian Etzkin, the Vikings have captured eight Horizon League Tournament titles – most recently winning the 2021 #HLTennis Championship. 

Cleveland State enters tournament play with a 19-6 overall record this year, and has won 11 straight matches.
