Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Remains Perfect In #HLTennis Play With 7-0 Win At Chicago State

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued Horizon League play on the road Saturday, picking up a 7-0 sweep at Chicago State. With the win, the Vikings are now 15-6 overall this season and 5-0 in league play.

Cleveland State was once again able to earn the doubles point against the Cougars, picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At the No. 2 spot, Kade Mindry and Nico Jamison earned a 6-3 win, while Devin Boyer and Lincoln Battle posted a matching 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Vikings then swept all six singles matches, picking up their first 7-0 sweep of Horizon League play.

Mikael Erler posted Cleveland State's first singles win of the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while Boyer gave the Vikings a 3-0 edge with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot.

Battle then clinched the match for the Vikings with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the top of the lineup.

In addition, the Vikings also got wins from Mindry at No. 3 singles (7-6(5), 1-6, 6-0(8)), Jamison at the No. 4 spot (6-1, 6-4) and Carl Gedlitschka at No. 5 singles (6-4, 6-2).

With their wins at Chicago State, the trio of Lincoln Battle, Mikael Erler and Carl Gedlitschka all improved to 5-0 in Horizon League singles play this season.

The Vikings will return home to close out regular season play over the next two weeks, beginning with a 10:00 a.m. contest against IUPUI on Saturday, April 13.
