Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the fifth time this season the Cleveland State men's tennis team has swept the Horizon League weekly awards, with Lincoln Battle earning Singles Player of the Week honors and Battle and Devin Boyer being named the Doubles Team of the Week. 

This marks the fourth weekly honor for Battle this season, while Boyer and Battle are picking up doubles honors for the first time this season. 

In singles, Battle went 1-1 on the week at the top of the lineup, improving to 8-4 in singles this spring. Battle picked up a 6-4, 6-1 straight-set win against Purdue's Stefan Simeunovic, while he also forced the No. 28 player in the country to three sets, dropping a hard-fought 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 decision against Notre Dame's Sebastian Dominko.

In doubles, Battle and Boyer went 1-0 on the week, picking up a 6-0 victory at the No. 3 spot against Purdue. The duo also played an unfinished match against Notre Dame. With the win against Purdue, the tandem now has a 7-3 record this spring. 

Battle, Boyer and the Vikings will be back in action with their annual Spring Break Trip this week, traveling to the state of Texas to face Baylor on Sunday, March 10 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday, March 12.
