INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After leading the Cleveland State men's tennis team to a successful opening weekend of dual match play, Lincoln Battle was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week, while Kade Mindry and Nico Jamison picked up Doubles Team of the Week honors.

Last time out, the Vikings went 1-1, picking up a 6-1 victory over Binghamton before dropping a tightly contested 4-3 contest at Penn State.

In his collegiate dual match debut, freshman Lincoln Battle went 2-0 at No. 3 singles last weekend, picking up a pair of straight-set wins.

"Lincoln had a great week of tennis in both singles and doubles, and it was great to see him on the court for the first time in a collegiate dual match environment," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I can't wait to see him progress throughout the season as he gets settled into the collegiate game."

Battle opened the weekend with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Binghamton, while he followed that up with a 6-4, 7-6(3) win at Penn State, as one of just two Vikings to go 2-0 on the weekend.

In doubles, Kade Mindry and Nico Jamison went 2-0 at the No. 2 spot, helping Cleveland State pick up the doubles point in both matches.

"Kade and Nico found some instant chemistry on the court, which is great for our doubles lineup moving forward," Etzkin said. "Although it was the first time that they played together, they were able to have success right away, and I know the future is bright for this tandem."

In their first match playing as a doubles team, Mindry and Jamison picked up a 6-2 win against Binghamton, while they followed that up with a 6-4 win over Penn State, marking the clinching doubles match in both contests.
