CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will open its 2023 fall campaign this weekend, competing at both the ITA All-American Championships and YSU Invite.

Senior Mikael Erler earned a spot in this year's field based on his performance from last year, and marks the fifth straight year that Cleveland State will be represented in the field. 

Erler, who will be making his third appearance in the ITA All-American Championships, will begin play on Saturday, September 30 in the Pre-Qualifying Singles Draw. 

YSU Invite
The rest of the Vikings will be taking part in the YSU Invite Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. This weekend's tournament will feature a singles and doubles draw, with action beginning at 9:00 a.m. both days.  

Cleveland State will be one of six teams competing at the YSU Invite, joining Eastern Kentucky, Duquesne, Xavier, Bellarmine, and the host Penguins. 

This weekend marks the first of four weekends that the Vikings will be in action during the fall season, including the annual Viking Invite that Cleveland State will host Friday, October 27 – Sunday, October 29.

Cleveland State returns 10 letterwinners from last season's team, while welcoming two true freshmen to the lineup this year, and will be under the direction of 22-year head coach Brian Etzkin.
