Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Travels To IUPUI & UIC

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue its Horizon League slate on the road this weekend, traveling to IUPUI on Saturday, April 2 and UIC on Sunday, April 3.

Last Time Out…
Cleveland State enters the weekend with a 1-1 record in Horizon League play, after picking up a 6-1 victory against Northern Kentucky and dropping a 4-3 decision at Youngstown State over the opening weekend of #HLTennis play. The Vikings now stand at 21-2 over the last four years of regular season league matches.  

On The Road Again
This weekend's matches will be the first of a four-match roadswing for the Vikings, as they will spend the next two weeks away from home. So far this season the Vikings have played nine matches on the road, including a stretch of six straight to open the 2022 spring campaign. 

Bilinovich & Teichmann Named #HLTennis Doubles Team of the Week
After picking up back-to-back wins at No. 1 doubles against YSU and NKU, Cleveland State's top doubles team of Clark Bilinovich and Raul Teichmann were named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week. This marked the fourth weekly doubles honor for the Vikings this season and the first for Bilinovich and Teichmann.  

Bilinovich & Erler Go 2-0 To Begin League Play
Clark Bilinovich and Mikael Erler both went 2-0 in singles play to begin the Horizon League slate last weekend, Bilinovich picking up his wins at No. 5 singles and Erler notching his wins at the No. 2 spot. So far this spring, Erler has a team-best 11-5 singles record, while Bilinovich now stands at 11-1 in Horizon League regular season matches for his career.  

Five Vikings With Double-Digit Singles Wins
Entering the weekend five Vikings have double-digit singles wins on the year, including Kade Mindry who has a team-best 17-14 mark this season. Joining Mindry are Mikael Erler (15 wins), Maxime Mareschal-Hay (15), JuandeDios Abboud (12), and Hugo Chatras (10).  

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
The Vikings are under the direction of 20-year head coach Brian Etzkin, who currently owns 284 career wins as the all-time winningest coach in program history. Etzkin is one of the longest tenured coaches in the Horizon League, and is the only men's coach to record 275+ wins at their current school.
