Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Set For Matches Against FAU & UTSA

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will return to action with a pair of matches in the state of Florida this week, taking on Florida Atlantic on Wednesday, March 16 and UTSA on Friday, March 18.

The Vikings enter the week on a five-match win streak, and stand at 5-7 overall this season. Over the last few weeks, Cleveland State has notched wins against Duquesne, Buffalo, Lawrence Tech, Toledo, and Holy Cross (Ind.). 

The FAU and UTSA matches will mark the seventh and eighth road matches for the Vikings this season, as Cleveland State opened the year with six straight matches away from home.  

Entering the week, five Vikings have reached double-digit wins on the season, led by Kade Mindry with a 16-11 overall record. Maxime Mareschal-Hay stands at 14-12 on the year, while Mikael Erler and JuandeDios Abboud both have 12 wins, and Hugo Chatras has 10 singles wins. In dual matches only, Erler leads the Vikings with an 8-4 record. 

Cleveland State has swept the Horizon League weekly awards the last two weeks, as Erler has picked up both Singles Player of the Week honors, and Clark Bilinovich/Mindry and Abboud/Chatras have earned the Doubles Team of the Week accolades.  

This week's matches against FAU and UTSA will be the final non-league matches for the Vikings until mid April, as Cleveland State will close out the month of March by facing Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky to begin the eight-match league slate.
