Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Set To Host Toledo & Holy Cross

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will open the month of March at home this week, hosting Toledo (10:00 a.m.) and Holy Cross (6:00 p.m.) on Thursday, March 3. 

Last Time Out…
The Vikings picked up back-to-back wins against Buffalo (4-3) and Lawrence Tech (7-0) last time out, extending their current winstreak to three straight matches. During this stretch, the Vikings have picked up a pair of 7-0 sweeps, notching them against Duquesne and Lawrence Tech.  

Vikings At The MMTP
Thursday's matches against Toledo and Holy Cross will be capping off a six-match home stand for the Vikings, a place where the Vikings own a 35-7 record over the last five years. Overall this season, Cleveland State is slated to play 10 matches at the MMTP, including four Horizon League matches later this year.  

Erler & Abboud Go 3-0 On The Week
Last week, Mikael Erler and JuandeDios Abboud led the Vikings in the singles lineup, posting perfect 3-0 records on the week. With the 3-0 records, Abboud now has 11 singles wins on the season, while Erler now has 10 wins on the year.  

Bilinovich Moves Up Singles Wins List
After becoming the 17th Viking to reach the 50-win milestone during the fall season, senior Clark Bilinovich currently ranks 15th on the CSU Singles Wins List with 55 career victories. Bilinovich needs just three more wins to move into a tie for 14th place, while he needs five more wins to become the 14th Viking to reach 60 career singles victories. 

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
The Vikings are under the direction of 20-year head coach Brian Etzkin. As the all-time winningest coach in program history, Etzkin currently has 281 career wins. Etzkin is one of the longest tenured coaches in the Horizon League, and is the only men's coach to record 275+ wins at their current school.
