Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Picks Up Wins Against Buffalo And Lawrence Tech

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team extend its win streak to three straight matches Saturday, notching a 4-3 victory over Buffalo and a 7-0 win over Lawrence Tech.

"This was a great day of tennis for us today, we competed really hard throughout both matches and picked up some much needed wins," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We really played well up and down the doubles and singles lineups, and credit goes to both Buffalo and Lawrence Tech for pushing us in both matches. I'm proud of the competitiveness that we showed today and I'm looking forward to continuing this strong play on Thursday when we get back on the courts."

The quartet of JuandeDios Abboud, Hugo Chatras, Mikael Erler, and Maxime Mareschal-Hay all went 2-0 in singles on the day, while Kade Mindry and Austin Staiger both picked up a win.

Mareschal-Hay and Mindry both now have a team-best 14 singles wins overall this year, while Abboud (11) and Erler (10) also have double-digit wins. In dual matches only, Erler now owns a team-best 6-4 record, while Mareschal-Hay owns five wins at the top of the lineup.

Saturday's matches were part of a six-match home stand for the Vikings, with Cleveland State returning to the court on Thursday, March 3 when they host Toledo (10:00 am) and Holy Cross (6:00 pm).
