Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Match Against Dayton

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team played inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion for the first time this spring on Friday, dropping a 5-2 decision against Dayton.

The Vikings were able to pick up the early doubles point on Friday, notching victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Kade Mindry notched a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot, while Mikael Erler and Hugo Chatras picked up a matching 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot. This marked the first time this spring that the Vikings have picked up the doubles point.

Erler then picked up Cleveland State's lone singles win on the day, as he notched a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Dayton's Matt DeMarco at No. 3 singles. With the win, Erler is now tied for the team-lead with three singles wins this spring.

Raul Teichmann made his first appearance of the 2021-22 campaign on Friday, as he returned from injury to play at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles.

Cleveland State will close out the weekend on Monday, February 21, hosting Duquesne at 4:00 p.m.
