Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Set For Matches At Xavier & Butler

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue the 2022 spring campaign with a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to Xavier on Saturday, January 29 and Butler on Sunday, January 30.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings opened the 2022 spring campaign at Michigan State and Ball State last weekend, dropping a pair of hard fought matches.

Road Swing Continues
This weekend's matches will be part of a six-match roadswing that the Vikings are opening the 2022 spring campaign with, as they will play away from home for the first four weeks of the season. This stretch will also feature a tough lineup, as Cleveland State will face two Big Ten opponents over the first seven matches.

Mareschal-Hay Named #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week
After picking up his first win of the spring season against Ball State last weekend, sophomore Maxime Mareschal-Hay was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week. Playing at the top of the singles lineup, Mareschal-Hay posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at Ball State, marking his 10th singles win of the season.

2022 #HLTennis Preseason Poll
Earlier this week the Vikings were selected as the preseason favorite to win the Horizon League, picked to defend their back-to-back-to-back titles in the #HLTennis Preseason Poll. The Vikings secured four first-place votes, along with 24 points to beat out second place Youngstown State by six points. Northern Kentucky, UIC and IUPUI rounded out the poll.

Bilinovich On CSU Singles Wins List
After becoming the 17th Viking to reach the 50-win milestone during the fall season, senior Clark Bilinovich begins the spring campaign tied for 15th on the CSU Singles Wins List with 54 career victories. Bilinovich needs just four more wins to move into a tie for 14th place, while he needs six more wins to become the 14th Viking to reach 60 career singles victories.
