CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team had a successful day at the Viking Invitational Saturday, picking up seven singles wins and three doubles victories.

The Cleveland State duo of Kade Mindry and Maxime Mareschal-Hay are still alive in the main singles draw, as both picked up two wins on Saturday. Mindry posted a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(3) win over Butler's Borja Miralles in the third round, before earning a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(10) victory over Youngstown State's Laurentiu Mandocescu in the quarterfinals.

For Mareschal-Hay, he picked up a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Xavier's Brett Winters in the third round, and then followed that up with a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0(9) victory against Michael Dickson of Butler in the quarterfinals.

Mindry and Mareschal-Hay will both play in the main draw semifinals tomorrow morning, looking to earn a spot in the main draw finals tomorrow afternoon.

JuandeDios Abboud and Austin Staiger combined for three additional singles wins for the Vikings on Saturday, Abboud posting a 4-3, ret. victory over Eduardo Villalpando from Niagara and a 7-5, 6-2 win over Youngstown State's William Everett, while Staiger picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Xavier's Nick Loudermilk.

In doubles play, the Cleveland State tandem of Mareschal-Hay and Mindry earned a spot in the championship match after picking up two wins on Saturday. The Viking duo earned a 6-4 victory over Butler in the quarterfinals, and then posted a 6-3 victory over Buffalo in the semifinals.

The duo will now go up against a Youngstown State duo in Sunday's championship match.

Cleveland State also picked up a doubles win in the back draw, as Austin Staiger and Hugo Chatras picked up a 7-5 victory over Dayton to advance to the back draw finals.

Play at the Viking Invitational will conclude tomorrow (Sunday, October 31) with doubles and singles action slated to begin at 9:00 a.m.
