SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued play at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational hosted by Notre Dame Saturday, combining for 10 singles wins on day two.
"Through the first two days of this weekend's tournament I have been really pleased with everyone's effort. The entire team has played very well and I'm encouraged about the start of the season," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We will get back to playing some doubles tomorrow, and I challenged the team to put a different product on the court and I know they will respond to that and move in the right direction to end this tournament on the right foot and continue to have a great first tournament."
Kade Mindry, Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Hugo Chatras paced the Vikings with 2-0 records on Saturday, while Mindry and Mareschal-Hay both improved to 3-0 this weekend.
Clark Bilinovich, Mikael Erler, JuandeDios Abboud and Austin Staiger also picked up wins on Saturday, with Bilinovich notching the 50th singles win of his career with a three-set victory over Michigan State's Josh Portnoy. Bilinovich is the 17th Viking all-time to reach the milestone.
Chatras and Erler both notched their first singles wins as part of the Cleveland State lineup on Saturday.
Tomorrow (Sunday, September 26) will be the final day of play at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, with one round of doubles and one round of singles scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
