Maxime Mareschal-Hay Joins Men’s Tennis Program For 2020-21 Campaign

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State men's tennis head coach Brian Etzkin has announced the addition of Maxime Mareschal-Hay (Quebec, Canada) for the upcoming 2020-21 campaign.

"I am excited to add Max to the team, I am confident that he will be a very good addition on the courts, and more importantly in the classroom," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I am most excited that we add another player with high character, who is a good student and who loves to compete. With this combination, I can't wait to have him here wearing the Green & White."

Mareschal-Hay will join the Vikings following an excellent junior career in which he ranked among the top-five in singles and top-10 in doubles in his age group in Quebec and Canada. Earlier this month, he earned a No. 1 U18 singles ranking in Quebec, while he ranked No. 3 among U18 Canadian players.

Mareschal-Hay has had much success in singles and doubles, winning three international singles titles and four international doubles crowns throughout his junior career, while he was a finalist or semi-finalist during eight other tournaments.

International Singles Titles: Copa Tampico, ITF J4, Mexico; Copa Universidad Galileo, ITF J4, Guatemala; Wadadli Bowl, ITF J5, Antigua

International Doubles Titles: Burlington, ITF J4, Canada; Bruno Agostinelli ITF Championships, ITF J5, Canada; Wadadli Bowl, ITF J5, Antigua; Copa de Vida, ITF J5, Costa Rica

In Canadian tournaments, Mareschal-Hay has been a two-time semi-finalist and runner-up in doubles, while he has also finished fourth and reached the quarterfinals in singles.

Mareschal-Hay will join JuandeDios Abboud to complete the 2020-21 signing class, and will join a Cleveland State team that has won back-to-back Horizon League Regular Season and Tournament titles.
