Terry’s Run At The ITA Midwest Regional Ends In Round of 16

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Cleveland State men's tennis junior Matthew Terry bowed out of the ITA Midwest Regional Sunday, dropping a 6-4, 6-2 decision in the Round of 16 of the Main Singles Draw.

Terry was matched up against Ohio State's Kyle Seelig in the round of 16, who entered the tournament ranked 27th in the preseason singles rankings and was playing as the No. 2 seed.

"Overall I thought we had a good showing at the regionals this year as a team, we were definitely a factor in both the singles and doubles brackets," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I'm proud with how everyone performed, and we are excited to continue our fall season at our home tournament in a couple weeks. It's always exciting to play in your own facility, and we are looking forward to getting back to work over the next couple weeks in practice."

This marked Terry's third straight appearance in the round of 16 at the ITA Midwest Regional, as he has earned a spot in the third round of the Main Singles Draw in each of his first three years at Cleveland State.

Terry finished the ITA Midwest Regional with a 2-1 singles record, and now owns a team-best 11-2 record on the year.
