CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team had an excellent showing on the second day of the Viking Invitational Saturday, putting a doubles team into the championship match of the Main Draw and earning a spot in the semifinals of the Main Singles Draw.

After picking up two wins on the day, the Viking duo of Nico Mostardi and Benjamin Slade advanced to the championship match of the Main Doubles Draw, and will take on a duo from Youngstown State in tomorrow's championship match. Mostardi and Slade earned a 7-6(6) victory against Butler in their quarterfinal match, and then posted a 6-4 win against Northern Illinois in the semifinals.
The Cleveland State tandem of Raul Teichmann and Jack Santilli also picked up a win in the back draw, posting a 6-2 victory against Wright State.
Mostardi also picked up a pair of singles wins on Saturday, improving to 3-0 on the weekend and advancing to the semifinals of the Main Singles Draw. In his third round contest, Mostardi earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Northern Illinois' Bor Muzar, and then followed that up with a 6-1, 7-5 quarterfinal victory over Kris Ortega of NIU.
Teichmann and Bilinovich picked up Cleveland State's other singles wins on the second day of play, both earning wins in the back draw. Teichmann went 2-0 on the day with wins over Youngstown State's Joao Garreto (6-2, 7-5) and Binghamton's Dylan Friedman (3-6, 6-1, 1-0(5)), while Bilinovich picked up a 4-6, 7-6(4), 1-0(8) victory against Alex Pena of Binghamton.
The final day of the Viking Invitational will begin at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday, November 4).
