Men’s Tennis Falls At No. 54 Michigan, 7-0

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team lost its first match of the 2016 spring season Friday afternoon, falling to No. 54 Michigan, 7-0. The Vikings had their three-match winstreak come to an end, as the Vikings are now 3-1 on the season.

Cleveland State's lone win on the day came from the No. 3 doubles team of Joe VanMeter and William Malm, who earned a 6-3 victory over the Michigan team of Lubomir Cuba and Carter Lin.

After dropping a couple quick first sets, the Vikings were able to battle back and give the Wolverines all they could handle during a couple of the second sets, including Colton Buffington at No. 3 singles and Kevin Goth at the No. 5 spot who pushed their second sets to a tiebreaker. Despite the late push, Michigan was able to sweep the singles matches, picking up the 7-0 victory.

The Vikings will look to rebound tomorrow, as they travel to Michigan State for a 12:00 p.m. contest. Live Stats will be available for the match with a link on the men's tennis schedule page on CSUVikings.com.
