KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened play at the WMU/Vredevelt Invitational Friday, led by junior Andre Mick who earned a spot in the Singles Flight F championship match.

"Overall I thought we competed well today, we had a few rough moments and left some matches on the court, but hopefully we can turn the page tomorrow and make some adjustments from day one," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Mirko and Ben played some good doubles for us today picking up a win in their bracket, while Andre picked up a few singles wins to make it to his flight's championship match. I enjoyed watching Andre play some good tennis today, and I am excited to see what he will do tomorrow."

With his two wins today, Mick improves to 4-1 in singles play on the season, and will now face Illinois State's Rolando Torrellas in the championship match tomorrow.

Benjamin Slade went 1-1 in Flight D Singles action Friday, falling in his opening round match before picking up a 7-6 (11), 6-3 victory against Western Michigan's Jimmy Beckwith in the consolation semifinals. Slade will now face Western Michigan's Andrew Cahn in the consolation final match tomorrow.
