VanMeter & van der Vloet Pick Up All-League Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team had two representatives on the All-Horizon League Teams, as Joe VanMeter and Jorg van der Vloet were named to the All-League Second Team. The All-League teams, which are voted on by the league's seven head coaches, were announced Thursday evening at the annual Horizon League Tennis Banquet.

This marks the first postseason honor for VanMeter and the second for van der Vloet, as he was named All-League First Team as a sophomore. This also marks the 13th time under head coach Brian Etzkin that multiple Vikings have picked up postseason accolades in the same season.

VanMeter and van der Vloet have been Cleveland State's top two singles players over the course of the spring season, both owning a 15-8 record in dual match play. The two split time at the top two singles spots during Horizon League play, both notching 3-3 records against league opponents.

Earlier this spring VanMeter and van der Vloet became the ninth and 10th Vikings to record 50 career singles wins – van der Vloet doing so against St. Bonaventure and VanMeter achieving the feat against Niagara. Entering the Horizon League Tournament van der Vloet ranks eighth on the CSU all-time wins list with 60 career singles wins, while VanMeter is tied for ninth with 58 career victories.

Overall this season VanMeter owns a 22-13 singles record, while van der Vloet stands at 17-15.

The Vikings will begin Horizon League Tournament play tomorrow (Friday, April 24), facing Detroit in a first round contest. Action is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Purdue University Tennis Center. Links for live video and live scoring will be available on the men's tennis schedule page.
