Bellutti & Radosevic End Doubles Run At ITA Regional

UPDATED DOUBLES DRAW

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Midwest Regional Saturday, with the doubles team of Manuel Bellutti and Mirko Radosevic advancing to the Round of 16 before dropping out.

"Manuel and Mirko played some good, scrappy doubles today, we had some injuries but they battled through and put up a good fight in both matches," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They had a great match against Ohio State, and then they just lost a few key points against Michigan that turned the match in their favor."

To open the day, Bellutti and Radosevic posted an 8-7 (5) victory over the 10th-seeded team from Ohio State, to earn a spot in the Round of 16. The Viking duo then fell in the next round, 8-4, to a Michigan tandem that was ranked fifth in the regional bracket.

Joe VanMeter, who dropped his opening round Main Draw Singles match yesterday, rebounded with a 7-6 (4), 6-1 victory over Lamar Remy of Wisconsin in a consolation match Saturday.

"Joe had a good match against a solid opponent in the consolation round today, ending the fall season on a good note," Etzkin said. "Overall this was a good regional for us, as we picked up multiple wins in singles and doubles play. I'm excited to see what this team can bring when the spring season rolls around, and I'm excited to chase after another Horizon League Championship."

The Vikings will now be idle until January 16, 2015 when Cleveland State opens its spring season at IUPUI.
