West Lafayette, Ind. - Diver Thatcher Carr's bid for an NCAA appearance in one meter diving fell short on Friday (March 11) at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center, as the senior placed 14th overall with a score of 529.15.
Carr ended the preliminaries in 13th place with a six-dive score of 264.40, but couldn't improve much in the finals, scoring a 264.75.
"There's a lot of good competition here, the first real competition Thatcher has had all year," diving coach Rich Karban. "I think he knew how tough it would be and put a little extra pressure on himself. But he will come back tomorrow and give it a go at the three meter."
Three meter competition begins Saturday (March 12) at 11:00 a.m. at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
