INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State junior swimmer Berry Thompson has been named the Horizon League `Swimmer of the Week' for the second time this season after his performance at the Oakland University Tri-Meet last Saturday (Jan. 14). The league office made the announcement on Monday afternoon.
Thompson, a CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-American honorable mention selection last season, won the 50 (20.95) and 100 free (45.55) at the Oakland Tri-Meet to help CSU defeat Xavier.
He was also a member of the 400 free relay team that placed second. Thompson, who swam third, was clocked at a 44.90 split.
Last year, Thompson won the weekly award on three separate occasions (Oct. 18, Oct. 26, Nov. 23).
This marks the fourth time this season that a Viking has been honored as the male 'Swimmer of the Week'.
The Viking men will compete at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium for the first time since Nov. 29 when they host Miami (OH) on Friday (Jan. 20) at 4:00 p.m. The following day, they'll travel with the CSU women to battle Horizon League foe Wright State at 1:00 p.m.
