Cleveland State University swimming & diving has signed Gorkem Sulun from Izmir, Turkey. Sulun swam at Itugvo Izmir High School and for the Turkey National Team and Fenerbahce Sports Club.

Sulun is a High School Turkey Champion in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke events, while also finishing seventh in the world at ISF France. This past year, Sulun was a Turkey Universities Champion in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke. 

"I Chose Cleveland State for its top-tier undergraduate engineering program, and I believe I can further develop my swimming career as part of the Viking team within the Horizon League!"

In addition, Sulun was a third place finisher in the 200 breaststroke at the Multinations in Ukraine (2021) and the Penguen Cup in Slovenia (2019), a two-time Turkey Junior Champion in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke, and part of the 2022 Turkey record-holding 4x50m relay in the Open Age Category.

Sulun is the son of Serkan and Ozlem, and will be majoring in engineering.
