The Starting Block
The Vikings will have a busy week with three meets in four days, including two at home. The Vikings host Niagara on Tuesday, January 9, Canisius on Thursday, January 11, and travel to Kenyon on Friday, January 12.

Last Time Out
Cleveland State kicked off the championship part of their season with a long course meet at Denison on Saturday. The Green and White fell to Denison, 169-127, and UIndy, 222-74. Xander Austin recorded the lone win of the day in 1m diving with 304.45 points. Jackson Nester, Tyler Schultze, and Thomas Lundin all had a pair of runner-up finishes.

About Niagara
The Purple Eagles are 0-2 and will hit the pool for the first time this calendar year tomorrow, as they have not competed since the Magnus Cup in November, where they finished fourth overall. Last season, the Green and White won the road, 130-100.

About Canisius
The Griffs are 0-4 and will also swim for the first time this calendar year. Canisius last swam on December 5 at home against St. Bonaventure, falling 152-75. Last season, Cleveland State won on the road, 131.5-73.5.

About Kenyon
The Owls are 2-1 overall and will swim for the first time this calendar year. Kenyon last competed in the long course open at West Virginia from December 17-19. Last season, the Green and White fell at home in their season opener, 166-96.

About Oberlin
The Yeo are 2-2 on the year and get into the pool for the first time this calendar year. Oberlin last swam on December 1 at John Caroll, falling to the hosts 168-120, but beating Notre Dame College, 202-62. These two schools last met in 2021 with the Vikings winning 199-34 at home.

Zone Cut
Xander Austin, a freshman from Jenison, Michigan, registered the first zone cut in 1m with 304.45 points.

Swim Cuts
Tyler Schultze, a sophomore from Coon Rapids, Minnesota, recorded a B-cut in the 200-yard breast (1:57.21).

Jackson Nester, a junior from Blacksburg, Virginia, recorded a B-cut in the 400-yard IM (3:49.13).

On the Horizon
The Green and White remain at home on Thursday, Jan. 11 against Canisius at noon.
