The Starting Block
Cleveland State will open the championship part of its season with a long course meet at Denison tomorrow along with UIndy.

Last Time Out
The Vikings are coming off a win at the Magnus Cup from Nov. 16-18. Cleveland State led from start to finish, putting up six meet records.

New Program Record
Tyler Schultze put up the fastest swim in program history during the A-final of the 200-yard breaststroke as the sophomore swam a 1:57.21.

Zone Cut
Xander Austin, a freshman from Jenison, Michigan, registered the first zone cut in 1m with 304.45 points.

Swim Cuts
Tyler Schultze, a sophomore from Coon Rapids, Minnesota, recorded a B-cut in the 200-yard breast (1:57.21).

Jackson Nester, a junior from Blacksburg, Virginia, recorded a B-cut in the 400-yard IM (3:49.13).

About Dennison
The Big Red are ranked sixth in the nation for NCAA Division 3 and are swimming for the first time this calendar year. Denison last swam on Dec. 2, finishing second at their invitational after putting up 35 national cuts.

About UIndy
The Greyhounds are ranked third in the nation for NCAA Division 2 and are also swimming for the first time this calendar year. UIndy last got in the pool at the Almost Heaven Long Course Open from Dec. 16-19 at West Virginia University. Cedric Buessing improved both his A-cut times in the 200-yard back and 400-yard IM.

Last Meetings
The Green and White swam both schools at home in January 2022, falling to UIndy, 169–129, but defeating Denison, 180–118.

On the Horizon
Cleveland State will have a busy week with three meets, including two at home on Tuesday, Jan. 9, against Niagara at 1 p.m. and Canisius on Thursday, Jan. 11, at noon. On Friday, the Green and White head to Kenyon for a noon swim.
