THE STARTING BLOCK

  • The dual meet at Miami (OH) marks the start of the 2023-24 season for the Vikings.
  • Hannah Burandt is entering her fifth season as the head coach, Chalmers McGillivray is in second as the diving coach, and Trent Richardson is in his first as the assistant swim coach.
  • The Green and White return 13 on the men's side and 14 on the women's side.
  • The Vikings welcomed nine freshmen on the women's team, ten freshmen, and one transfer on the men.

THE HISTORY AGAINST MIAMI

  • The last time these two teams swam was in 2021, which also took place in Oxford.
  • In that dual, the men were edged out 132-130 while the women fell 214-41.
  • Dating back to the 2012-13 year, the men are 0-5-1 and the women are 0-3.

PRESEASON RANKINGS

  • The Horizon League announced the men's and women's swimming and diving preseason polls on Thursday, Sept. 28 with the men selected third and the women fifth.
  • Oakland was the unanimous favorite on the women's side while IUPUI was picked to win on the men's side.

NESTER LOOKING FOR THREE

  • Junior, Jackson Nester will look to win his third straight 400-yard IM HL championship after the junior put up a school record with an NCAA B-cut time of 3:48.34 last season.

ON THE HORIZON

  • The Vikings will host an Alumni/Intersquad Meet on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m.
  • Following that meet, Cleveland State heads to Indianapolis to face IUPUI and Milwaukee on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28.

GOLF OUTING

  • Cleveland State will host its first-ever golf outing at Bunker Hill Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 13.
