CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University swimming & diving coach Hannah Burandt announced the ninth addition for the class of 2023, Michael Cucu.

Cucu is from Parma, Ohio, and swam at Normandy High School. Cucu was a state qualifier and two-time All-Ohio honoree. He was also an eight-time individual conference champion. In addition, Cucu was named the MVP and Rookie of the Year.

"I chose Cleveland State because it is close to home, and I loved the facilities."

Outside the pool, Cucu was a member of the Honor Roll.

Cucu swam for SwimUnited and was a member of the national team. The son of Anca and Mircea, Michael plans to major in finance and marketing.
