Cleveland State Men's Swimming Has Two Named to HL All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2022-23 Men's Swimming All-Academic Team, with Cleveland State claiming two spots. Griffin Manning earned his second straight honor while Jackson Nester received his first.

"We strive for excellence in all we do," said head coach Hannah Burandt. "These two represent just that: excellence in life, school, and in the pool. I'm very proud of them and am happy we get to celebrate them! Go Vikes!"

Senior, Griffin Manning earned his second All-Academic honor after putting up a 3.90 GPA in the sport management graduate program. Manning decided to use his fifth year of eligibility this season and was part of the third-place 400-yard medley relay team. He also placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with an NCAA B-cut time. Lastly, during his undergrad, he was twice named to the Dean's List.

Sophomore, Jackson Nester gained a spot on the All-Academic team after posting a 3.96 GPA in mechanical engineering technology. In the classroom, he has twice been named to the Dean's List and once to the President's List. At the championships, Nester repeated as the 400-yard IM champion with consecutive school records. He also placed third in the 200-yard backstroke.
