Cleveland State Men's Swimming in Third Place at Midway Point of HL Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Cleveland State sits in third place at the midway point of the Horizon League Championships.

The Vikings started the evening with a fourth-and-fifth place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with Spencer Tussing (4:26.73) and Jackson Nester (4:27.64). Connor Green placed 11th overall, while Jake Taulbee came in 14th.

Tussing's time is the top time this season for the Green and White in the event, while all four swimmers put up CSCAA B-standards.

In the 200-yard IM, Cleveland State claimed the 12th through 14th spots with Tyler Schultze, Reno James, and Griffin Manning. Schultze's time of 1:50.98 was a season-best, and all three swimmers recorded CSCAA B-standards.

Josh Merchbaker and Kenny Thomas came in tenth and eleventh during the 50-yard freestyle, each achieving CSCAA B-standards.

The Vikings capped off day two with the fourth-fastest time in program history for the 200-yard freestyle relay. Paddy Johnston, Nathen Eberhardt, Merchbaker, and Thomas finished in 1:20.23, which was the best time this season and a CSCAA standard time.
