Cleveland State Men's Swimming & Diving Falls at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Vikings went on the road for the first time this season and fell to Youngstown State 167-127 in a Horizon League dual.

Jackson Nester won a pair of events on the day as the sophomore started out the individual swimming portion with a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle after clocking a 9:36.53. Later in the day, he touched first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.21.

The Viking went one and two in the 200-yard freestyle with Nathen Eberhardt (1:42.60) and Connor Green (1:143.51).

In the 100-yard backstroke, Kenny Thomas won the event after touching the wall in 51.04.

Paddy Johnston won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.64 and then turned in a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:49.90.

Spencer Tussing touched the wall in 4:40.99 to claim the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Green and White also got runner-up finishes from Griffin Manning (57.63) in the 100-yard breaststroke and Reno James (2:08.38) in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Cleveland State ended the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay with the team of Eberhardt, Tussing, Thomas, and Johnston finishing in 3:06.72.

Head Coach Hannah Burandt said, "The men made significant strides today. It is truly impressive how quickly we are seeing our practice execution translate into competition execution. We are looking forward to that next level as we look forward to Magnus Cup and our first training trip in four years."

The Vikings will conclude the calendar year with the annual three-day Magnus Cup event from November 17-19 inside Busbey Natatorium. Prelims will be at 9 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m. each day.
