Cleveland State Swimming & Diving Have Six Horizon League All-Academic Members

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Cleveland State had six members on the 2022 Horizon League Swimming & Diving All-Academic Teams, the League announced on Tuesday afternoon. The men had four honorees; Timothy Kubacki, Griffin Manning, Dominik Niedzialek, and Jack Krusinski, while the women had two; Rachel Contich and Ana Sofia Sousa.

Head Coach Hannah Burandt said, "My first season here at CSU, Jack Krusinski said it best, that "we need to win our team culture, so when we walk into a meet or competition, we are already winners." On this team, we prioritize our people and academics first. We must take care of ourselves as people and we must take care of academics, swimming and diving ultimately is something we get to do.  Having our most successful swimmers, including program-record holders, Horizon League Champions and runners-up, and Team Captains, also being your most successful students is a testament to the values that our team culture is built upon.  I am incredibly proud and grateful to each of these five individuals and this honor is one to truly be celebrated!  The thing about swimming is there is always a way to be faster and someone can always take your record or place, but as BB King once said: "The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you." The future is incredibly bright for Griffin, Jack, Timmy, and Dom as they are about to graduate and enter the working world, and we are so proud that Rachel and Ana will be back leading the way in the classroom and in the pool."

Graduate Student, Timothy Kubacki landed on the All-Academic Team for the fourth time in his career. Kubacki was named the 2022 Horizon League Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the championship meet. He won the 200-yard IM Championship this season and ended his career with four Horizon League Championships. As a junior, he was named the Horizon League Co-Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
