Sikatzki Earns Weekly CollegeSwimming Honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Philipp Sikatzki of the Cleveland State University men's swimming and diving team was selected as CollegeSwimming's Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week in a recent announcement.

It is the third time Sikatzki has earned this accolade this season and his fifth weekly award in 2016-17, as he has won two from the Horizon League office.

Sikatzki helped CSU to a victory in its first League dual meet of the season this past weekend at UIC.

Sikatzki won all three individual events he entered and also swam on a winning relay. He began his day by swimming the lead leg in the 400 medley relay in which he posted a 48.66 split to help his quartet take first place in 3:23.20. He then proceeded to take first in the 50 freestyle (20.71), the 100 freestyle (45.97) and the 100 butterfly (48.33).

Sikatzki was more than a half-second clear of the second-place finisher in both freestyle events and won the butterfly by more than three seconds.

Sikatzki sits among the top 30 times in Division I this season in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. He holds the top time in the League this season in five different events (100 free, 200 free, 100 back, 100 fly, 200 IM).

Sikatzki and his teammates will resume action this Saturday, Jan. 21, at Wright State.
