GREEN BAY, Wis. - David Stewart scored just seven minutes into the match, but the Vikings couldn't hold on to a 1-0 halftime lead, falling to UW-Green Bay, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon in Green Bay, Wis.

Stewart scored at the 7:15 mark of the match, one-timing a free-kick from David Carmichael into the back of the net. The Vikings (6-12-1, 2-5 HL) nearly added a second goal late in the half, but Stephen Ademolu's one-on-one challenge against Phoenix goalkeeper Pat Czuprynski was stopped just short of the goal line.

"The longer we went in the game, the more Green Bay was let back into the game," head coach Pete Curtis said. "Green Bay truly earned this win, they kept fighting and earned it through their play. When their chances came, they took full advantage of them."

UWGB's Joshua Okoampa proved to be too much for the Vikings from that point on. Okoampa scored his first goal of the season in the 55th minute, then tallied two more goals in the 67th minute and the 74th minute to seal the victory for the Phoenix (3-12-1, 1-6 HL).

"Our deficiencies were readily apparent today," Curtis said. "The quality of our passing and our defensive play has to improve dramatically between now and next Saturday, or our season will be over."

The Vikings will next head to Detroit on Saturday, Nov. 8, for the Horizon League Quarterfinal match.
