Cleveland State Men's Soccer Blanks IUPUI on the Road, 1-0

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Vikings (3-6-2, 2-2-1) blanked IUPUI (4-5-3, 3-1-1) on the road Saturday, 1-0. The shutout was the first of the season and the third straight against the Jags.

Cleveland State nearly got on the board in the 27th minute after IUPUI gave it away in the back, but Marko Rimac's shot went off the post and cleared out of danger. Four minutes later, M. Rimac wouldn't miss this time as he beat the keeper to the near post off an excellent through ball from Pablo Kawecki to lead 1-0.

The Green and White remained in front by one at the intermission while holding a 3-2 advantage in shots.

The second half went scoreless as Omeed Naeemy came up with three huge saves to earn his first shutout of the year and the 19th of his career.

IUPUI outshot the Vikings 10-8 in the game and 4-3 in shots on goal. Kawecki led the way with three shots, including one on frame. M. Rimac was close behind with two shots and one on frame.

Cleveland State takes a break from league play to face No. 5 Akron on Krenzler Field on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.

The Vikings will be charging admission for their contest against the Zips. Single-game tickets are set at $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for youth 12 and under, while groups of 10 or more will be $7.00 per ticket (In advance only; Full price at the gate). PURCHASE TICKETS
