Cleveland State Men's Soccer Falls to No. 2 Marshall

Huntington, W.Va. – The Vikings (1-4-1) dropped a 5-0 match to No. 2 Marshall (6-0-0) on Tuesday evening.

Cleveland State nearly got on the board in the 21st minute as Marko Rimac was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was tipped over the bar.

Marshall tallied the only goal of the first half in the 37th minute when Pablo Simon volleyed in a cross from the right side by Aymane Sordo.

The Herd doubled its advantage just two minutes into the new half as Matthew Bell found the back of the net off a failed clearance, following a cross from the right side.

Marshall made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute when Marco Silva finished off a shot from the middle of the box on a pass from Bell. Eight minutes later, Silva bagged his second straight after touching home a long through ball from Taimu Okiyoshi.

The final goal came in the 88th minute after Alexander Adjetey scored on an assist from Aymane Sordo, winning, 5-0.

The Vikings had eight shots on the evening led by M. Rimac with three. Albert Portas was close behind with two. Stephen Yerian finished with four saves in goal.

Cleveland State gets back into Horizon League play on Saturday, September 16, traveling to Detroit for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
